This is the first part of my little bitch Julie`s run at this year`s Continental Sheepdog Championship in Switzerland.
As you can see the sheep left the post way before Julie had finished her (in my opinion very nice) outrun. Sheepdog enthusiasts out there: I would welcome to hear your opinion as to what could have been done in such a situation. As it were I lost all but one of the lift points through something that in my opinion wasn`t Julie`s fault. So: should one stop the dog at three quarters of the outrun to keep the sheep from leaving the post early??
My second question: on the fetch the sheep split up (as they had started with before they got to the post in the first place) When I managed to see the problem she took a nice look back command, but we lost 14 points on the fetch, even though we still got the gate. Any ideas what could have been done??
Helpful comments would be very welcome!!
I`m always trying to improve my handling skills and would like to help Julie as much as possible.
