The Activist Institute

The Activist Institute is a semester-long program for students looking to join the growing network of progressive leaders across the country. Young people are the key to creating a world of equality and justice. At The Activist Institute, participants will learn practical organizing, advocacy, and strategic communications skills that will help them develop their leadership abilities as a new generation of progressive policy activists.

The Activist Institute is recognized for its unique structure, creating strong communities of young people across the nation who live under the same roof and work on the same issue. The program is designed to give students a holistic progressive experience--a combination of internships at local non-profits, a supportive group of like-minded people, challenging, engaging and reflective discussions, networking opportunities with other young people, and access to key leaders working on related policy issues in the non-profit world.

Each Activist Institute is held against the backdrop of a major U.S. city. The Activist Institute provides an affordable housing situation for interns and places them in an internship with an established non-profit. The signature program of The Activist Institute is based on the belief that the exchange of knowledge and teamwork are critical tools that will let young people harness their collective power and engage in progressive change.
