  • no, the zooming is great. it annoys me when the video is just a single distant perspective. ;) this production is crazy. why is rosina wearing clown make up? no one will want to marry her looking like that.

  • @asdfopera Well, it was like a play in a play : Rosina here in on stage, near a beach, with houses and streets behind the caravan. As for the make up, all the main characters had it :) Commedia dell'arte! Frankly, the production was amazing. Perfect embodiment of Rossini's nonsense ^^

  • Do you have other videos of this production?

  • @podkivanok No, this is the only video I dared to record :-)) But the production was truly amazing, I hope a DVD will come out sooner or later, because it was absolutely brilliant.

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what silly staging anyways she is still fabulous but she looks a little silly

  • What a cold reaction of Berliners...

  • Very good!! Thanks for sharing

  • Ok, I am OBSESSED with the little shoulder-hiccup thing at 3:22.

  • @LohengrinT

It is that I believe to DiDonato very much that makes me want to see her evolve into a true Diva - but that needs sacrifices. Her face has the bone structure of a dramatic actress, she can use that if she consults the proper make-up artist, she must learn to reduce the movement of her hands to the absolutely necessary

She must study the great ones + she needs a great director (not an opera stage director)

99% of today's and yesterday's opera singers are dreadful actor/actresses. In their development their mind didnt allow them to evolve into acting. I usually dont comment on the acting matter but DiDonato has besides the vocal talent, the intelligence to be a very good actress. (People actually believe in our days that Dessay's running around on stage like a spastic is acting-)

  • @LohengrinT Who would be your ideal operatic actress/actor, then? I think the requirements are totally different, personally. After all, many of the situations and pieces of dialogue we accept on the operatic stage would never fly in straight drama.

  • @LohengrinT This was done with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, a well respected company! The acting is not to blame, but as far as the production design she had to follow what the DIRECTOR told her + She looks like she is having fun on that stage ^.^

I think DiDonato is one of the most talented voices we have ever heard Very well trained and extremely skilled. Is it too much to ask from her to be equally good at all areas of the Opera performance? even at choosing not to play at low-level productions such as this I dont know how easy or difficult that is for someone like her but she definitely deserves much more than this
