Join Yeshiva University Vice-Provost and world renown Dead Sea Scrolls expert, Dr. Lawrence Schiffman as he explores the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. The scrolls, one of the most important biblical archeological discoveries of our times, include the oldest known copy of the bible, apocryphal texts as well as an outline of the rules governing the sect of Jews who lived in the caves of Qumran between 150 BCE and 70 CE.
To experience the Scrolls and hear from Dr. Schiffman in person, join us at the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition and reception for YU alumni on February 15, 2012. Visit http://yu.edu/deadseascrolls for more information.
This is an excellent overview of the scrolls. Thanks! I sure would like to visit this exhibition.

Fine, they're some of the most important biblically related texts ever discovered. Problem is few scholars understand what many of the Yahad scrolls are saying. INTERPRETATIONS are almost completely misunderstood. The War Scroll that Professor Schiffman describes, talks about the leader of the final war as Merire. But who is he? No knows. I will address these issues and propose answers in my next book 'Holes in the Dead Sea Scrolls', published by Baird/Watkins in 2012 .
