Fighters fill Somalia's political vacuum - 19 Dec 08

Somalia's armed al-Shabaab group have come close to capturing all of Somalia from the country's interim government which, while near-powerless, has international backing.

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports from the Somali port city of Marka, where he had exclusive access to the highly secretive al-Shabaab.

East Africa is still a tribal place, not just Somalia. Only the few major cities in East Africa is where you find folks from various tribal backgrounds intermingling (like Mogadishu once was before the civil war).

Look, don't get me wrong, Somalia is a hell-hole. No one is denying that but what do you expect from a civil war? People don't debate over biscuit tables during civil wars. The onus is on Somalis to prove that they've learned from their tribal ignorance...until then, they will continue to suffer.
