PORTLAND, Maine - A 47-foot rescue boat crew from Station Portsmouth Harbor, NH, retrieves the kayak of Hamilton Wood from the water near Boon Island, Maine, Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009. A Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., found the kayak around 7 a.m., Saturday. The search for Wood ended at 9:25 a.m., Sunday March 1, 2009. Wood remains missing.   • Its always a good idea to have your name and phone # on the kayak. so they can call to see if your ok and wont have to search for you. I like the idea of a cell phone in a bag.

  • it looks they tried to retrieve it.

    also, that kayak is 16-18 feet long. its hard for 2 people to pull that out of choppy waters onto a 47 foot lifeboat safely

  • You don't want this kayak to trigger another search for no reason. Pull it out, find the owner, and take it back to shore.

  • why would they just leave it there?

  • wat was the point if no1 was in the kayak
