The biblical account does not "depend" on the mesopotamian version, all it does is show that cultures share a common historic event.
A GLOBAL deluge DID occur, you can see evidence all over the world, and that thing called an ICE age was merely the after effects of the Flood, Water land-locked in the form of ice on North American continent 4 miles thick!
Our continental shelfs were our Primordial shores! from Englands North Sea to China's South Sea it was all dry land! no mystery here.
