An undocumented migrant from Guatemala who we shall call José, tells of the dangerous trip by freight train from Arriaga, Chiapas to Reynosa, a trip initiated by 600 people but completed by only four, himself and three other men. José speaks of group members being kidnapped and of his own extorsions and beatings at the hands of state and local police in Mexico. He even attibutes the kidnappings to police who he says work hand in hand with the kidnapper, ambushing the trains, taking as many as 70 plus at a time during the trip. At the Casa del Migrante in Reynosa, a shelter for undocumented immigrants, Catholic nuns provide food and roof for a maximum of three days .
