Maidens of the Highlands

"Maidens of the Highlands" depicts the life of the women in the "Dai" minority group of Yunnan, China. The costumes, a kaleidoscope of colours, accessorised with silver details, coupled with the distinctive undulations of the arms and waist of the dancers, and accompanied by a wide range of delicate hand, finger and eye movements exude immense vibrancy, vigour, strength and grace, characteristic of the woman of the highlands.
