  • The idea of Worm screw really came from Da Vinci?!

  • @snowyphil65 Worm gears basically only allow the rotation of the worm to turn the gear (Worm gear is fixed, but allows rotation). It does not work in reverse. So imagine if you are to build a system to lift something up using a crank. If the crank is directly connected to whatever you want to lift, the moment you stop turning the crank, it will drop due to the gravitational force. Using a worm gear as shown in the video, it won't fall. Imagine what'll happen if you tried to turn the circular one

  • @XQbit that was 2 years ago xD, but then again, it would be possible...

  • @weetnietgeen would need lots of these cascaded together.

  • just imagine what he could do, if he's alive now..

  • That man was a genious! Either that we're all totaly stupid!

  • This ingenious invention also inspired an almost as clever man to make the ship screw! What would would be without it, lol

  • @TheEnviroFriend Better yet, think about what life would be like today if the religious institutions that stifled his work never existed.

  • @dahiteman also used in alot of heavy machinery and irrigation equipment, i wonder what the mechanical advantage of this build is

  • @raslerman06 a worm gear was used for many year to stear cars. The worm is what you turned when you turned the stearing wheel. The gear changed the direction of the wheel.
