With tire flipping becoming more and more popular in gyms across the world, we decided it would be prudent to teach curious strength enthusiasts how to do it properly. Lightweight Pro Strongman Andy Deck knows a thing or two about flipping tires, so pay attention!

  • Great video. Thank you! I confess to having done the "ugly deadlift" a number of times already, with a tire almost as big. Very thankful you put this up, before I had a serious injury.

  • So is ok to do it the other way if the tire is light (sub 300lb) and you are working on speed and reps or do you always have to do it this way to protect your biceps? Is that a 600lb tire?

I would have liked to have seen you do 3 or more reps fast so as to see how to get into the proper position quickly.

    Great post. Thanks.

  • Tire flipping is freakin cool. Just got mine. Glad to see how to do it correctly!

  • Hhh it don't look heavy and I'm 11 I could lift that its easy

  • thanks, i thought the deadlift thing was how you did it. i have a lineman challenge that will have the tire flips in it so this video is a great help

  • Excellent tutorial. I had an excellent workout this weekend flipping tires. If you're looking for tires, I recommend checking Craigslist (search "tractor tires") where you can often find free or low priced used tires. I also enjoy securing a 20 foot rope through the "rain hole" (drill a hole in your tires to allow rain to drain) and hooking the other end to a belt for "tire drags". Dragging a tire is sort of like dragging a sled, but much more friction where the rubber meets the road.

  • Only if you deadlift with a double underhand grip and bent elbows which no one does so no.

  • For the kids. lol. These are some good videos dude. Thanks!

  • awesome video

  • Good tutorial, simple and effective, Thanks!

  • isnt the chance of a torn bicep just as likely as with regular dead lifts if doing it the shitty way?

thanks for the video. even tho i aint tried strongman type lifts yet.. i had NO clue its done like this
