Getting into background for "A Gang of Daggers."

Watching HBO special about "True Blood" and the history of vampire literature, in particular how it is an exploration of "the Other." Example from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." How my characters become "the other" in different environments. How I am not following the Tolkien model for fantasy, but instead used examples from history, like HBO's "Rome."
