  • Jos, thanks for your videos! But when I try this technique (adding more and more paint on top of each other), it ends in a blob of brownish-grayisch mud that threatens to fall off my canvas. How do you do that: So much refining and adding paint, and still retaining that brightness, that contrast and colour? Could you give a tip? (I hope I made my point clear enough.)

  • it sounds as if you are using paint with too low pigment concentration. With higher concentration it is easier to opaquely apply paint. Try Old Holland or Williamsburg (the highest pigment concentration) or at least artist's grade paints like Rembrandt.. But at some point, when adding too much paint of the wrong color, one just has to scrape it away. When a color looks 'muddy', it just means it's the wrong color..

  • What is the gold color that you use

  • @pencilart360 hi, not shure which you mean, but I think it would be just titanium white and some yellows..

  • what kind of canvas do you use?

  • @tombproduct in this one I used an mdf board, prepared with some acrylic varnish..
