Ridley Scott's Prometheus Update

Hey Everyone I'm Chelea Cannell, Thanks for tuning in to Clevver Movies!

Fox is reporting that Ridley Scott will be jumping into the directors chair to Helm the aliens prequel Prometheus, which is currently set for release on Marth 9th 2012. Exciting news since it'll be the first time since Blade Runner that Scott make s return to Science Fiction!

Now for some casting news -- Of the 5 major roles that are awaiting a casting decision, Noomi Rapace, who played the scientist in the Girl with the Dragon tattoo, has officially became the first actor to sign and will play "Elizabeth Shaw!" Deadline Hollywood is reporting that both Angelina Jolie and charlize Theron are both circling the other big female lead, and could find themselves duking it out over who gets to play "Vickers!" Other than Rapace, Fox hasn't revealed much in the way of casting.

The script was based off Ridley's idea, and the initial draft of the film was written by Jon spaihts of "the Darkest hour." Word is, Damon Lindelof of "lost" and "star Trek" fame has paired up with Scott to work on the current version which has excluded a story expansion which could take the film into new directions.

Apparently their direction was to "go off and come up with what they wanted based on the alien DNA." Not a bad assignment. Based on that Ridley has revealed that Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, but that our of the creative process a new grand mythology and universe evolved in which the new story will take place. Ridley added QUOTE" I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart." Talk about a passion project!

As for Lindelof, he has said he was really struck by just how original Ridley's idea for the film was and that they have made the script QUOTE "daring, visceral and hopefully the last thing anyone expects."

This is how it should be! I was so happy when I heard that this movie won't have xenomorphs. They have milked that cow dry. The 'alien' was a great concept, but it won't work anymore. Now i'm pumped up for a science fiction movie mixed with mythology, and an answer to who the Space Jockey is!

@LatinoBadass I know thats exactly what I think, I dont hate Cameron, hes a great director, but I will say that man has lost his way sumwhat over yrs, cus Avatar is far from his best work. Ridley has returned to this genre "he helped define" after like 30 yrs and hes shown us all that he still has that magic. Prometheus is gonna b awesome! cant w8.

@SternMann93 It's truly a good idea to let us know more about the space jockey. But honestly i want to see SPACE MARINES!!!!! The 3. and 4. movies where bad, because it didnt follow the aliens legacy as it should have. The creepy enviroments, the badass soldiers (you find yourself to love those characters hopelessly) where all missing. While the 2. movie was truly different then the first, i think they had the same atmosphere. I want to see and hear that creepy atmosphere again....

Instead of a 3D movie fans can eat an egg on March 9. Then in the movie theaters, on June 8, people in the audiences will have parasites exiting their bodies.
