Barack Obama in Ottawa

Trying to get my car to my underground parking and being moved along by strict police I had to park my car and pay at the meter. As I walked to my building I noticed about 30 some odd police cruisers and secret service SUV's. Then I saw it..the Presidential Limo! The next thing that happened was so surreal. I saw the President. He got out of a little store in the market and waved to the crowd, got into his 8 inch thick armour plated limo and drove off, 6 feet from my face! This day I will never ever forget. What an amazing experience!

As a US citizen... I gotta admit I could not have been happier when the Secret Service asked him to come down from the car and GET IN! This area was far from secure and when he got up on the car, their was a clear line of site. After Kennedy... and all the anger Bush generated toward our county.. yeah I'm paranoid about President Obama's safety. P,s We so love Candida though, you guys are so chill and easy going .

Yea, I could imagine the secret service were pretty annoyed/scared with that, but it just goes to show how much of a people person president he is. I'm really excited for the next 8 years, and I'm not even an American!

Its quite the entourage!!! The limo Obama rides in has 5inch steel plate armour that encases the entire cadillac incase of bullets or chemical attack!! They also have a supply of oxygen in the trunk & a blood supply if he ever required a blood transfusion! The tires are bullet proof & can ride on steel rims if need be ;)

1 vehicle has a machine gun that can shoot 4,000 rounds a second. Several vehicles have more ground agents for protection. There is an ambulance, a vehicle that allows for communications that are encrypted. Then there is a the backup limo or decoy. Vans filled with press. Then on the Canadian side, double it all again, more security more press. Then each side has "staff" assisting the president and the politicians they are with.

Don't ever doubt for one moment that this type of security is not needed and necessary for this President. White supremist hatred is extremely high and we have some really SICK wacko's here in the USA!! Obama's motorcade has at least 3 to 4 times the normal security I have seen for prior U.S. Presidents, and I'm HAPPY and GRATEFUL to know that he has it as we want to keep this President as long as US law allows. There is no other political figure that can top him here at home!! :-)

While it has not been this way since 63' in the U.S, there was a time when people in power could stroll around, unattended! Look no further back than Trudeau's walk in the snow back in 84'. It all sadly changed with the assassination of Olaf Polme of Sweden in that same year. Ever since, security has trampled down the rights of people to be 'closer' to those that lead them. What a shame for us a species. We cannot grasp the sanctity of life, our family, neighbours and those that lead! For shame!

@tzarBHD There is Nothing shitty about the job President Obama is doing. He's accomplished more Good for our Country in the last 18 months then that shit-head Bush did in 8 years. It will take time for him to dig us out of this mess, & I for one am willing to give him those 8 years to do it.
