This story is about a farmer that builds a bridge (metaphorically speaking) from his fields to the school lunchroom cafeterias. In the process, fresh, and wholesome foods are provided to growing kids, and a small local food economy develops. This is part of a growing trend across the country.

  • Kids will eat great food if given the option and the education, too. Great stuff as always CUPS!

  • It is wonderful to see them eat something that actually *tastes* good! w00t!

    thanks, AB! =)

  • This is the only time in human history when a calorie of food cost more than a calorie of energy (petrochemical) to get to your table. Ridiculous.

These programs will begin to solve this problem.

  • Yes, it's amazing how far away and out of touch we've gotten with our food. People are starting to become aware. I'm hoping more farmers and schools connect and work something out.

  • my college is about to start a school garden, in which we'll sell our crops back to the school for the cafeteria. Can't wait to see it implemented. Good to see that it has been succesfull in other areas

  • This is great! What school & where? Who will tend the garden in the summer? Good to hear you're giving it a go. Let me know how this works out for you guys.

  • Thanks to President Obama who cares for ALL children of this great nation of ours.

Thanks to all who are hand and hand with

Katrina Wise, you are all wonderful.

  • great video!

  • very good video

  • Yes, I found that very interesting - if the veggies grown by local farmers are made available, kids find that they taste good! Food grown to hold up during shipping, well, doesn't always taste that great. Kids are smart.
