The back roll is a lot easier :P

This is the best video I've found so far! You know how much crap you get when looking for 'Barrel roll'
-
its not, its teaching us how to fall safely after being thrown/pushed to the floor
-
Super, but we trying to avoid any head contact to the floor.

watch a vid of Tissier or so doing a demo... then pay attention to the uke (the guy performing the attack) and how he lands after being tossed around by the tori (the guy performing the technique); if the uke stands up again, this move was used in protecting himself; if he stays down with 25 broken bones and a skull fracture, he may need more practice doing the rolls and breakfalls (ukemi waza); this coming from a guy who separated his ac-joint doing this silly move :-S
-
Cool video, what could this move be used for in protecting yourself?

What video is this, I enjoy the voice over and person preforming and would like to find a copy.
i tried exactly how he did, put the hands on the floor and roll over. but i still feel pain on my shoulder when rolling on a hard ground. is this usual?

When you do front roll, you have to go diagonally. Your head have to go on side. Put your chin close to your chest. Most important thing is to protect your head. It is funny, but, be the ball, be the ball. :) Like sphere. It is hard to explain with words. Best way to learn is to practice in dojo leaded by good instructor.
Sorry on my Tarzan English. :)

yea i understand, but the problem is do u guys feel pain when doing front roll on a hard ground? or this will only happen to beginners and soon we will get used to it? Thanks for the reply.

In the beginning I feel some pain. But, I think the problem was in instructor, because he just show me the front roll from stand up position and told to me that I have to do it. Without explanation or anything like that. Now I am an instructor. I tried to help my students and try to avoid that mistake. If beginners follow my instructions, there is no pain. Some of them don't pay attention enough and they have problems with pain in shoulder.
