It doesn't really matter here, does it? He's on a trainer and there is no water. In a real kayak on the water he will adjust his stroke accordingly to the height of the water, paddle size and other factors...

hands are fine. the ste up is way too high. hes bobing too. thats bad.
if his hands were any higher he would lose the first part of his stroke.

They're not supposed to get 'high' above his head either.

He's using his back and abs very well (rotation), but his hands/arms do get to high above his head. Nice use of the legs.
