Bill to give legal effect to E-Banking.03.12.2009-itn news Sri Lanka

Minister Prof. Tssa Witharana has said that a bill has been presented in Parliament to give legal effect to E-Banking.

Pointing out that banking activities are being facilitated and speeded up with the advancement of technology. However, he said due consideration has to be given to crimes related to this sector. Interact and computer transactions, which are currently emerging will revolutionize society. He said this will help the wastage of the banking system. Moreover, Prof. Witharana added that even the small person, who has just few money to save in the banking system, should be considered.
The Minister was speaking at the launch of the first international E-Banking Conference and Exhibition today. He was the Chief Guest. The conference is being staged with foreign experience for the profitable use of this technology for banking activities with the current advancement in information technology.
