This week in Arkansas the Veterans Affairs inspector general found gross violations in a VA human testing program. For soldiers returning from Afghanistan and Iraq, health care and the transition back into society are important issues. Questions are being raised about what types of health care treatments soldiers should receive. Congress held another hearing on a recent VA case involving veteran negligence based on a series of Washington Times articles. In VA hospitals a non-smoking drug Chantix is given to veterans to help them quit smoking. This even after the FDA, drug maker Pfizer and the VA itself found the drug to have serious risks, including suicidal behavior.
you were misled and lied to when you joined the Army. Sorry that you have PTSD, and issues with quitting smoking. Taking any drug, there are always side effects. Taking a drug study is a way for the drug producer and FDA monitor and evaluate a drug. If no one in the drug study was notified, it was because that is what a drug study is. You cannot tell everyone what one person's effects are, or that would hinder the study.

I know of 2 suicides from this drug,1 near suicide and 1 homicide. in all cases the people said they could not distinguish between their nightmares and reality or they felt like they were in hell, literally. The other 2 can't respond now. the drug co won't hold themselves responsible. They responded with: Basically, they would have done it with or without the drug. - I can tell you 1st hand these were the type of people who without Chantix would have gotten help before doing that.
