I do think Renault did owe him an apology, because he was leading and pulling away pretty comfortably, until they decided to give HIM a drive-thru penalty, with no penalties being awarded to Alonso even after the discovery of his tainted win!

Macau Grand Prix 2004, he was leading I think, Hamilton right behind him. Then at one of the corners, he binned his car into the barrier, hehe:) Hamilton didn't have time to react, crashed into the back of nico's car.
