I think that the reason the apple was eaten was just to spit in the face of God, Eve already knew from the beginning that God and his whole concept was laughable, and decided to show him just how rediculous his rules are. Just goes to show that women were ahead of men from the beginning of time.

To be honest, i think the story is very effective at confusing Christians. Eating an apple is a sin for which god will hold a lengthy grudge to this day. Meanwhile, god wipes out the worlds population except for a boat. The one message is obeidience - do as I say, not as I do. It's the perfect religion for a slave.

How could it be more obvious when, even in the bible it is basically saying that humans are condemned by god for knowing too much? The serpent was trying to free Adam and Eve from a pointless eternity in Eden so that humanity could struggle and grow and learn on it's own.

I always thought it kind of sucked that we had to pay the price for Adam and Eve, and whenever I asked my parents about they always said "that's just the way it is..." :)

@HaploidCell Oh no dude, there are many religions which say certian races are damed , like the mormons. and even the bible, the source of christianity says that it is ok to take slaves from far away lands.= those who are different from your tribe are not really people= inferior. The bible does damn certian people more than others. But I think we can agree that the bible is repulsive.

meaning, that criminality was said to be in your genes, and that therefore the sons of thieves would be thieves.

as if that was not bad enough entire RACES were declared to be geneticaly "bad".

It was all about the blue-eyed, blonde white folk = perfection / everything else = enemy.

the DNA-thing protected some, while demonising others.

BUT the church goes "everyone is a son of adam"

it protects noone. it damnes everyone.

You have a crimminal history in your family so everybody in your family must be sterilised! including the innocent. This was exactly the idea that hitler used to justify the holocost. Yea!!! God!!!

The even more messed up part of the fall is that God "programed" every single tiny little parameter. Everything! It put a tree with fruit within the reach of humans it created to desire fruit. Why not make the bad thing a pile of stinky dookie?

The humans were created with the flaw that would eventually lead them to disobey. And to top it all off, they didn't understand what they were doing was wrong until after they did it. And to top that off, God knew the exact outcome beforehand.
