Actually, you should never force a pigeon to do that. It can drown if it accidentally inhales water.
If it can't stand in the water, it is too deep. Pigeons love to bathe but they don't like to swim.

@jazzfolkrocker I have had that happen occasionaly to my chicks as well. It is always sad.

wow that's great. I have a rescued pigeon and I fill my sink up and she loves to take a dip. I wish I had a pool like this. She would love it. So nice to see people loving pigeons.
