rats are incredibly intelligent especially for their size. I've had cats, dogs, hamsters and rats and out of all of them rats are the fastest learners and the best problem solvers, this is why they are used more than any other animal in psychology experiments. They are however less good at understanding human speech than dogs.

Gonna agree with this couple. They know what's up.

@Slappy2112 they are roddent and you're a fucking douche. They share 99% of the same DNA we do. Much more than your stupid cat and (cool) dog. Intelligence is not about the size of the brain... If it was, whales would dominate the world

I love rats, I had 2, they died but they were fucking cool and now we got 2 other females... but when I see people having more than like 2... I can't help but find and think that those person are probably dirty and stink.
Usually they are fat ugly bitches with no friends.

While I love my rats dearly, I'd NEVER throw away my cat to get more of them.
Just because you don't think your cat is as smart, and s/he vomits [which is probably because s/he's sick, as cats shouldn't vomit often], doesn't mean you have the right to get rid of it.
Rats are prone to many sicknesses and every one has a different personality. Vet bills are expensive. If you're so quick to to replace your pets, I don't reccomend getting another pet, especially a rats.

@LuckyVine I agree I have a few cats that I'm getting rid of for a rat I herd rats are very smart, and alls my cat can do is poop and barf.

Obviously you've never had a rat, or at least not one that you treated kindly. Rats, especially those raised in loving environments, are actually pretty damn smart. They're on most top 10 smartest animal lists, and scientists who work with them know just a wee bit more about them than you. As do I, having raised rats for over 25 years, though I wouldn't say they're smarter than dogs, because it seems to be a tie. BTW there's no need to cuss about it. To us rat lovers, rats rule, you drool. ZING!

I wonder how many rats they have now.

@Slappy2112 Brain size has nothing at all to do with intelligence. Look at whales. The blue whale's brain is larger than a car, yet humans are clearly more intelligent than whales.

Do you even have ANY experience with domesticated rats? Obviously not, or you wouldn't be slinging the word "bullshit" around. Whether or not they're smarter than dogs and cats is hard to say. Even scientists are in disagreement over the precise hierarchy of animal intelligence, but they use rats in various lab tests for one indisputable reason: they ARE proven to be among the most intelligent animals in the world. They are in the top 10, after all.
of course rats are smarter than dogs. what defines intelligence is the ability to solve problems and learn, not be obedient. any rat on the street will be smarter than any dog. its just a fact of life.

Rats are smart. Smarter than dogs? Quantifying intelligence is any animal is tricky, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were just as smart or even smarter.
Don't confuse trainability/conditioning with intelligence. Even a cockroach is able to be conditioned to do certain things.
