On my brief spring break I visited two of the least windy cities in the US (Seattle and LA) and I encountered windstorms in both cities! This LA windstorm was unusual because the winds were blowing onshore - whereas normally heavy winds in LA blow offshore. Winds were strongest at the coast, but there were downed tree branches many miles inland as well. For a city that rarely records gusts over 30mph this was pretty cool. Not much compared to other places, though.

  • wow pretty strong winds! great footage, and at 0:06 never seen those blow in the wind that hard (since we have a lot here in bay area)

  • Yes, it was impressive for LA. Those trees are pretty big and heavy so it means it's really windy if their frawns blow around.

  • i think that the wind was stronger than 30mph though

  • It was actually right around 30mph. There may have been some gusts to 40mph, but 30mph winds are stronger than most people think they are

  • wtf seattle gets alote of windstorms

  • yeah, they get a few each year. But besides that it is not a windy city. Its got one of the lowest average windspeeds in the entire US.

  • floods in Washington. snow in California all At the same time. Ripped the coast like a horse!

  • it happends on occasion it blew our screen door of the house. i thought it was funny

  • Anyone up for some windsurfing? ... I travel Santa Monica, Ocean Park just about every morning and many evenings during my daily walks. There's a certain beauty from the interaction between the wind and sand.

  • Watching this video makes me home sick for Corona, CA . I truly wish I never moved to Georgia

  • bwahahahahaahahahaaha. that's not strong wind, that is a breeze. Where I grew up (Geraldton, Western Australia) we got wind stronger than that every afternoon from the seabreeze during October and November. The winds are so strong and relentless that the trees grow horizontal to the ground so that they don't blow over (fact)

Google it and find out for yourself..
