did you spray them with paint before?
-
go faster on the dip and the film will wrap the bottle, when you go slow your allowing the water to beat the pattern and it will never wrap like that.
-
good 1st attempt but where your graphic was missing on the Blue bottle, you should have rolled the bottle into the graphic instead of just lowering it in. lowering a rounded object will distort part of the graphic and also create a void like yours did. Rolling a round/cylindrical object is not the same a a flat faced object.
try again but when you get 1/4 or 1/2 way in...begin to roll the object to coat it.
Good luck

Corona extra :D

What Temp is the water
-
you should have rolled the bottle... not tried to stretch a seam... watch videos of ppl rolling things like scopes and stuff... you will be impressed...
-
middle always goes first and if it touches the water you have to let it go
-
when youre placing the film in the water you want to hold it in opposite corners and place the middle in first.
-
you completly fucked up

@sziss5 it's $100 for a whole kit. with the kit you could do your xbox, controllers and a bunch of other stuff.
miss a spot on the blue one.... nice did you do the second one or did a pro do it for you? lol at the Walmart dip tank
note: tape = no proper notion of how this is done.
look around you tube the actual company's that do this don't use tape because it dosent let the film expand and settle like it should.
those e-bay dip kits are a gimmick for people who believe in that stuff!

i did them all myself. I seen them using the taped edge. I cut slits into it so it still expanded but slower than if i hadnt.
I never claimed to be good. infact it was my first few attemps. and they came out badly. but with practice i belive it will work. I'm no way claiming to be a hydrographing company either.

Roughly, how expensive is it to hydro-dip the size of a xbox controller.

@sziss5
it depends on how u do it. there are companies that make a kit. most of them are a camo pattern. if thats what you want then its not that expensive bad.
if you buy the supplies like i did, you get a lot more material than what u need to do a controller. but the price was about the same as the kit. i bought my stuff off of ebay.
