This song is a beautiful ballad about the scottish peninsula of Kintyre and it's probably the biggest hit performed by Wings.

The recording sessions take place in Paul's scottish farm in August 1977.

During these sessions, Paul is helped by a local scottish group, the Campbeltown Pipes Band, who plays all those fine and famous bagpipes lines in this song.

  • When I was at college I used to play this to motivate myself to hike across campus for my afternoon classes. If I hadn't played it I think I would have skipped a lot of classes. Silly story, I know, but I love this song.

  • Sweet song and probably one of McCartney's all time best. Bagpipes in this song are superb and help make the song the true great it is. Amazing how easy it is to forget certain songs and music over a 35+ year period. I re-discovered this truly great song after recently watching a documentary of the life of James Dean and it had a version of this song near it's end. I now well remember McCartney's '77 debut and video on MTV. Damn--that was like a "forever" ago ! Now I listen to it daily.

  • I can't help but think how... special... it would have been if John and Paul could have done this together. All of it; music, video, recording, everything!

  • I want to know if the band leader caught the baton on the way down. Can't Beleive they don't show it. I hear a busker at times when driving my taxi, he plays the bagpipes. I want to give him $5 but he is to far away from me. I want him to play this great song. It came on the radio one night while working, I turned it up and me and the passenger were singing along to it. Gives you a good feeling. Great song.
