In yet another gem from the vast Vince Palamara archives, DPD motorcycle officer James "Jim" Chaney, riding with JFK's limousine on 11/22/63, is interviewed that very same day by ABC's Bill Lord (WHO HAS A CHANNEL AND COMMENTED ON THIS VIDEO!). The heavy commotion and chaos of the Dallas Police station is evident in this important interview. Posted by request of Ryan Wilson, the oldest of 2 grandsons of Patrolman Jim Chaney. :)

  • President Kennedy was a very nice man, was NOT difficult to protect, and NEVER ordered the agents off the rear of his limousine (nor did his staff). The buck stops with the Secret Service. Don't believe any books by former agents trying to say otherwise!

  • Hey, that's me doing the interview!

  • @wlord123 Very cool!! :O)

  • Thanks, Vince. I've been looking for that one. Is there a second part? Some sources have Chaney saying he saw Connally's shirt erupt in blood, and that a third shot was fired... He doesn't say that here.

Note to others, all the early WFAA interviews were packaged together five years back and made available to the public. It was a limited edition run and is no longer available.

  • This is it, Pat. Btw, love your dvd :)

  • So I guess this would be why the Warren Commission did not ask him to testify. He gave the wrong answer here. At 39 seconds in, Chaney says, "2nd shot came and I looked back just in time to see the president STRUCK IN THE FACE by the second bullet"

  • @wlord123 Were you aware of "Operation Mockingbird"?

  • wlord123 I wish television news these days was like it was during your time, substance over style. Incidently, what ever happened to Bob Walker's career after the jfk assassination?

  • Great contributions Vince! Interesting initial comments/recollections from the policeman closest to the President...

"I looked back just in time to see the bullet hit the President in the FACE".

  • This footage has been available since 1983. Dallas WFAA released 13.5 hours of the footage during the 20th anniversary of JFK's death.

  • Thanks, Vince. If you're still in touch with Bugliosi, I'd appreciate your finding out what he thinks about it, and getting back to me. I gave him a DVD on January 10th, and haven't heard back. I guess that's not surprising...seeing as he relied upon Baden almost exclusively, and I call into question Baden's credibility.
