**WARNING**

The following footage was filmed with the permission of the Michigan Air Line Railway, and safety procedures for our camera crew and the railroad personnel were followed. NEVER TRESPASS ON ANY RAILROAD!!

On Sunday October 23rd, 2011, MP 25 Productions was granted access to film the Michigan Air Line Railway. We were able to film this small 5 mile shortline located in Walled Lake and runs to the CSX interchange in Wixom. Our motive power was MAL 1512, a former GTW SW1200 of the same number. The 1512 has been recently painted from her showing in one of our last videos, into the ABRX scheme, and is still waiting final lettering.

The MAL was recently approved for abandonment by the Surface Transportation Board, and will soon close operations. In this video you will watch the MAL Crew switch American Plastic Toys, the last remaining customer on the line, as well as watch as the MAL Crew switches out FXE 150001, former FEC 8022 "Fort San Marco", as well as an experimental PRR HEP car, and Santa Fe "Vista Cavern", and our final shot shows the consist being led from walled Lake with former DT&I Center Cupola Caboose 141 trailing on the consisit.

MP 25 Productions would like to thank MAL Railway and Allen Brown for our access onto this line. ENJoy!

  • How'd you score this? I live in the condos on Wixom and Pontiac Tr. My Living room backs into these tracks... I'd love to do see how they work daily...

  • @JordanGray88 I know the former owner as a personal friend. It will be sad to see the line torn up, but on the other hand you guys might get the extra peace and quiet of the bike trail. There should be 1-2 final moves and the operations are done.

  • Excellent video, you do good work on these

  • @ClinchValleySD40 Thanks Larry

  • We rode the Star Clipper dinner train several years ago, loved it! I hate to see this line disappear, Michigan looses another attraction again, and another great piece of history.

  • cool video James

  • @RailfanJames I always loved watching the transfers come through.. Yes it was loud, but it wasn't home without it... CSX has nothing on the "homley" feeling of the Airline Railway... It will be sad to see them go.

  • Very nice video! I had a such great time one week ago! Thanx for including my name too! That day couldn't have been better!!!!
