We're back at Old Town School of Folk Music where Tim Joyce is joined by the fingerpickin' fury of Tony Polecastro. Tim and Tony compare two guitars -- a Martin 00-15 with a solid mahogany top and a Larrivee 0M03R with a solid spruce top.
Check out this video to hear how the sounds are "different," and even though according to Tim neither is technically better than the other one, I still encourage those of you who hold one wood in adamantly higher regard than another to settle your arguments like real men . . . by pit-fighting.
I've wondered. Is there a difference between the Martin 0015 and the 0015m - what's the 'M'?
Thanks.

So many factors here to consider in comparing these guitars. None of 'em definitive really except maybe to say that the sound re-enforcement used didn't flatter ANY of them and body size DOES make a huge difference in projection and tonal comparisons. Tonewood characteristics are secondary to the volume (spatial) of the box. Lovely guitars all three though. Thank you for your efforts. Now. . . .where's that pit?!

The last guitar has natural distortion, which is a plus!

The guy playing hit it spot on. The Larry sounds more defined. Are the sizes really comparable? 00 vs OMO?
