  • "How can you only think of your selfish ambition and not of PURPLE VISION!"

Sorry guys, now you're going to hear it like that too :p

  • I don't really like Murray Head on this song... I think Adam Pascal's the only one who really did Freddy Justice...

  • @celiaspyder Adam Pascal did the role justice, but he'll never replace Murray for me.

  • Well at least they decided to bring back that very effective chorus from "Florence Quits", it was way too moving to use it only once, IMHO.

  • I LOVE Murray Head in this version of the song! AMAZING!!

  • @Ander01SE Not quite. There was no London cast album. This is the original 1984 'concept' album. Benny, Bjorn and Tim did the album first to see if there was any interest in a stage show version. Only Elaine, Tommy and Murray went on to perform it on stage.

  • @MWK1303

It's the version from the "Original London Cast" album.

  • @saint973 I was lucky enough to see the original London production in May of 1986 -- right after a two week tour of the Soviet Union! It was an absolutely amazing show. Elaine Paige was stunning. I just wish "the Soviet Machine" was on the soundtrack....

  • I don't know why, but this is the song I always gravitate towards first when I decide to listen to the Chess soundtrack. It took me a long time to remember when I got to this video, but it was probably when I was looking for a song to sing for an audition on a certain website and was led to "Someone Else's Story" sung by Lea Salonga. Though I didn't get the part, I'm so glad I picked that song because this show is amazing.

  • @blithium lol thank a lot -_- haha i do hear it like that now!
