'Oh that I regret...' - Shaykh Muhammad Mukhtar Ash-Shinqitee

This is a small excerpt from one of shaykh Muktar's lectures. He reminds us about the feeling of regret; one feels it when missing out on an opportunity, and their level of regret is dependent on just how significant that 'opportunity' was.

So the shaykh brings to light on how there will be no greater feeling of regret than the one who wakes up on the Day of Judgment reminiscing about what could have been, and the evil of what is to come...

Mini tafseer: 'This verse is talking about the situation of the one who was negligent in the obedience of Allah. On the Day of Judgement, the nafs will say this (i.e: the words from this ayah), because he/she was busy in fulfilling the desires of this world. Every time a sign came, the nafs rejected it and the body did not act upon it.'
