This is a compilation of all the videos I've found of sentinels acting to keep visitors quiet and respectful--and they are hard to come by. The sentinels at Arlington Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (from the 3rd Infantry Regiment, US Army) aren't just automatons! They actively guard the atmosphere at the tomb, telling visitors to remain respectful by quieting down or by staying off restricted areas. I've added subtitles to the video for the full effect of the guards' "third-person" warnings. My thanks to the YouTubers who have supplied the clips used in this compilation. If you have a clip that isn't represented here but should be, please let me know! Thanks for watching.

  • if they dont know who he is ? how they they know is not RUSSIAN :)

  • @7thsign68 What I've realized is that the people that talk about history are the ones who A) have never been to combat. or B) have never served. I've never brought up any other war when stating my opinion.I've got my own stories to tell about when I was with the Big Red One in Fallujah BEFORE the marines got there. No one heard about Fallujah until after the USMC moved in.

  • I was referring to what I thought was a quick shot of people coming up the opposite way. That's why I referred to it as "blundering" into where they're not supposed to be. Now...At 1:53, for instance, there's a considerable crowd behind a railing. Of course there is no excuse whatsoever for people going past that railing and onto the plaza.

  • @finalascent Does there have to be? I mean, this is the men who sacrificed their lives for our freedom... They can't use their tiny little brains to imply that they should be quiet and pay respect to them?

  • @9Jez0 I would agree that the Marines are associated with the Dept. of Navy. We need them to cook our food, do our laundry, and mop our floors. LOL.

  • @finalascent I've only been once but I believe there are signs. I know there are rails, as you can see in the video, but It's also pretty evident, assuming you have any common sense.

  • dont get me wrong i have complete and total of respect for these men and the dead. But I gotta be honest, this must be the most tedious job in history. Even more so than the Royal Guard in England, at least they dont require silence.
