One is one's brain, eh? Realizing that is like awakening to the representational character of your experience, to the fact that reality is the matrix.

Materialism brought to extremes becomes spiritual.

  • you don't know what eliminative materialism is, congrats

  • what is it?

  • do you really want me to explain it formally, or are you being sarcastic?

  • No, I'll admit I have no idea what the Churchlands mean when they say our experience of being conscious is an illusion resulting from our folk psychological way of speaking about ourselves. If you could explain to me what they are on about, I'd be grateful.

  • Have you read any Maturana and Varela mate? Tree of Knowledge, that kind of thing? Sounds like you very well might have read some already but if not, I think you might like it: it's determinist but non-representational and I really enjoy it.

  • Yes! I most certainly have. I've also read 'The Embodied Mind' by Varela et. al.

I'm just uploading a video about this right now, by chance.

  • You are made of information not matter: watch?v=-ciWYGvpGII

  • This video generally defines how my outlook on life. Lol was there some sarcasm in this video

  • Nice, but your belief in the physical world is not predicated on anything except for the social context you live in which gives primacy to that concept. In actuality, non-duality does not just mean that physical and mental worlds are "one". It means that there is not a physical world or a mental world, nor neither physical nor mental worlds. It is non-negative and non-positive. As for the being, it is, as you said in the beginning an illusion. Scientific analytical views are reductive, though.

  • Ah, nice one! I'll subscribe to you now so I get it when it comes up... I struggle with Tree of Knowledge still (just spent a week reading it) but they seem to enjoy moving around and through the barrier between what you see the brain doing when you look at it, and how you experience your brain's work from the inside. Good!
