Ok going back to the original comment that I said and you called me a "lying schmuck" I said the electoral college votes for president. How is that a lie. Secondly, if the Electoral college votes for the population... why do we need them?

And if I am lying, how did Bush become elected when Gore won the popular vote?

Its happened at least four times in history that the electoral college voted for someone against the population. So again

Like I said, this guy is a lying schmuck. Here is how it works: Democrats and Republicans have their own group of individuals that could go to the electoral college. You become a member of the electoral college based off an election in the state you represent

When the states results come in, the members of the electoral college that belong to that party are sent to vote. Since they are a member of their own party, they always vote for the person who won the state. Go take a class in government.

Ok if you dont believe me look it up yourself. First of all they are chosen by people who are in government, and not the population. In Addition... its a secret ballot and several times in history the Electoral College voted against the Populus. SIlverkid non need for name calling. I still say Wake Up

You're not very informed. The people who go to the electoral college are elected, and are chosen by who wins the overall vote in the state. Those people then go to the college and for the candidate.
