I often wonder if maybe it would've turned out differently if they had managed to complete the spell and actually stabbed his eyes with the needles. Still, I like how it all turned out in the end anyway. :-)

They changed the name from Hecate to Hectate probably for spiritual/religious purposes, because Hecate is a Greek/Pagan goddess, and I'm sure they didn't want to go using the actual name where it wasn't necessary to speak it or whatever.
