  • @dejavuchicka Basically they are formed when water wears away at the underground limestone. The water will pool up in rock pockets and wear away the rock over time as the water moves, then when the pools empty, the rock above becomes unstable and collapses causing a sinkhole. This is why you will see alot of limestone edges around the ediges of the sinkholes. The cracks are where the earth is slowly pulling into the sinkholes, and will one day be the new edge of the sinkhole.
