Yes you are a fucking retard. Instead of firing some inexpensive (comparatively speaking) mortar round, lets fire off an overly complete $1,000,000 Cruise Missile shall we?

@pimpinaintez67 Yeah, but it would definitely supress the target sending shrapnel close enuff to hit the car and definitely flying around it.

@beerrunner81 that would be bracketing your target ;) iirc 81's have an eff kill radius of 50m? if there are any mortarmen on here correct me if i'm wrong.

that's the way we do it in the I.D.F as well.

@grifon1981 Thanks for your info. Now I know that the way FOs work are actually similiar. One difference though, finns and russians (our military is quite dependent to russian weapons and systems) use mil that is 1/6000 of a cirle and NATO uses mil that is 1/6400 of a full cirle. We are though starting to use the NATO version.

@MetalSights Yes, I am trolling... You would be really retarded to actually think that this is fake.
I know the car was the target. My question is. What went wrong? That should have been an easy kill. More training I guess.

@beerrunner81 This would be considered a "hit". Artillery and mortars are what's known as "area weapons". Hitting something on the nails is not necessary.

How do the FOs make the corrections? In finland they give orders like RIGHT 70 LENGTHEN 150, the side corrections in mils and length in meters, both are measured from the observing position.

@MrJackpontikka There are two way to give corrections: polar and grid. Grid is more common it is LEFT 100 ADD 200 (left/right add/drop in meters) It is from the point of view of the FO, adjustments are to move the point of impact in relation to the target. Polar is DIRECTION 2356 RANGE 1329 (direction in mils, range in meters). It describes the POI from the POV of the FO, CP then makes a correction. Only used if FO has a laser rangefinder. You in Finland? I'll be there in August.
