Trust me, i collect straight razors and shave with them daily, your putting WAY too much pressure on your straight when your stropping. the only pressure your supposed to put is to keep the whole blade on the strop. The way you do it, the leather will roll your edge and you will get a horrible shave, also in your shaving video, your angle is WAY too steep, you want a 45 degree angle at most.

Dude, that razor would be atrocious to shave with. If you're watching this video, please don't take this advise. Visit a good straight razor forum, join up on the forums and find out from people who actually shave with razors. This guy might try to shave with this, but it'd be like tearing hear out with your finger nails.

@7:09 Jeffs O.C.D. kicks in

DONT let the leather hang down and wrap over the edge of the knife, it'll round off the blade edge -think about it logically, pulling it straight across a TIGHT strop will strop the blade straight and form a very straight edge, also use the lightest pressure possible

@fearofgodblablabla Yes, if you're using only leather, stropping removes no metal and aligns any microscopic burrs or imperfections. If you're using a stropping compound however, some metal is removed because that stuff is really just white or green chrome jeweler's rouge which is an ultra-fine abrasive. I'd never heard the term "bind" used in that context before but ... OK, now I know what you mean. Thanks.

@benjamin22cal Dovo, makes good ones.

@MrMZaccone "Bind" is probably wrong word, but when you use a knife or a razor. The blade splits up, under a microscope you would see! That the blade facing different directions. By stropping you press them back.

Unlike honing or sharpening a blade, in which a whetstone removes metal bent out of alignment from the blade's edge, stropping the blade re-aligns the indentations without removing any material

Hey Jeff, Q for ya, how often do you honestly shave with a strait edge? Like how many times per month? Be honest =)

@SuperR3volver I shave once or twice a month, everytime I shave it has been with ym straight razor, even taking my time it takes less than 20-30 minutes for prep, shaving and cleanup..since I got this razor I shaved without it one time cause I was in a rush
