  • Real good ,Waterman have a real hard time sticking together,What we need is more publicity and maybe a good lawyer to file a lawsuit on major polluters!!

  • Thanks Edditjr1956. I hope other people watch this video and realize how important it is to stop pollution. Also, watermen and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation are teaming up to sue the Environmental Protection Agency for failing to prevent pollution, so you may get your wish :-).

  • The Chesapeake Bay oysters have been scarce for 25 years. I bet they won't come back unless they shut down the bars. The problem is in the Coptank those cocksucking guys from down below and catch all our oysters, then go back home. They should stay home to begin with. It's a joke to catch a couple oysters to a lick. Those bars should be closed from Christmas on, when oysters get this low. Then there would something tyo catch for a couple months. We'd only have to sink a couple boats from below.

  • You are right, waterman have always had it hard making a living. All the chemical people put in there yards is what has destroyed the bay.

  • to the two comments below me, irich62, have you ever been oyster dredging, if not, you should know this doesn't take place on a grass flat. A shell bed or pure mud bottom is where it takes place. Phillyfireman, the harvestation of menhaden has nothing to do with this !!! Even if the menhaden go extinct, the pollution being dumped in the bay will still affect the water quality !!

  • thats right clean the water coming into the bay. There are things we can do short term, mid term, and long term. The long term will require a lot of infastructure changes and that will take a lot of money and time. START NOW ! One of the things we can do now is reduce our menhaden catches. See menhaden eat cpoius amounts of algea. But there is a MEGA company in the bay called "omega protien" that have decimated the menhadens ability to filter out the harmful algea. they areouronlyfilterfeeder

  • tell 'em what your oyster dredges do to the bay grasses while you're at it!

  • I'd heard about the threat to the watermen who depend on the bay to make their living in passing but hadn't really realized how widespread or serious the problem was. Thanks for putting this all together and posting it up, and good luck to those working to save the bay and the people who depend on it.

  • Good job exposing all this to the public. I've learned things like this since childhood, but not in depth. It's great that you're doing this for them and for the environment as well. I absolutely love seafood so I'm happy, and I want the Chesapeake Bay blue crabs to thrive because they're probably one of my favorite foods lol. Once again, Good job!

  • Thankyou, Brian, for taking that first and perhaps most important step: speaking out on behalf of the Chesapeake Bay and all those who depend on it. Growing up around that area, i have seen the drastic effects on the bay caused by our pollution. I support anything that helps promote the cause of its well-being. Once again, great job!
