thanks! i made my first hobo stove two days ago and it worked great. success. instead of using a grate i just used a wire coat hanger and cut it into sections and ran them through the ventilation holes in the top and bent the ends down. thanks alot for the great idea!

nice. the only thing that could make it better would be a damper. i'm sure you are genius enough to do that as well. this would be a good pack survival tool.

@chibraxial well you would also go garbage picking and find a free can:D Now its free
-
@chibraxial have you ever driven on an American highway ...... cans are free dude
-
"free can" actually it isn't free, you paid for it as well as for the food inside... usually you just waste it, now you're recycling.
Great.

@akachucknasty your not allowed to use a home made stove now
Made this type of 'stove' when I was a kid using an old boy scout survival book... By the way I'm told that stuff like that isn't mentioned in the 'modern' scout books. Should have kept that old book - think they go for 70 bucks now. Great work sir.

@G0MPgomp It's a can/bottle opener, the kind that punches the triangle hole in cans.

Dude, you just saved me $9.95 plus tax on a charcoal starter. Thanks...(just kidding, I really wouldn't pay that much anyways, and now all I'm gonna buy is a can of tomato juice for the can).
