Whats the update on your Tancho? is he doing better? I wish we were next door neighbors cause I would love for you to be my mentor in this hobby? Take a look at my fish and tell me what you think.
My pond got destroyed by a tornado so I'm rebuilding one which will take time.

Hooinc if you freeze the video at :08 she releases some gas. maybe there was something wrong with her stomach? or did you find out what was wrong with her. Btw Im sorry for your loss. Ive lost some jumbo koi before and I know what its like because the koi that ive lost would come to the edge of the pond and eat from my hand. and I still cant find another koi that will do that
one of my yamabuki ogons died in one of its high speeds ..this time it slamed into the pond wall and i found it swimming up and down and slowly it stoped and i knew it was dead 20 mins later i am sorry for your lost i hav also lost quite a few jumbo koi's which were quite dear to me

@orientaljoe Is your pond on the small side? Slamming into walls is one of the downsides of a smallish pond. My koi didn't slam into the wall, I was there witnessing everything, from when she was eating normally to suddenly all this happening.

I'm really sorry for your loss, it must be devastating. I cry when I lose my koi and they're only a few inches long. However, I think I may know what happened to her. You said that you had fed them and then she started to do this, well I think that when she food she ate too much and when it expanded in her stomach it compressed her swimm bladder and when she spazzed out it put so much tention on it that it ruptured thus causing the gas bubbles to come out of her vent and gills.

@dolittle1992 I was feeding sinking food, which doesn't expand half as much as floating food. And I had only just started feeding for about a minute. She ate a little but not that much. Maybe just a few pellets. I don't think expansion could have happened in seconds.
