  • Actually, the astronauts were likely alive and conscious until impact with the water because if the cabin would have depressurized, the middeck would have buckled upward towards the upperdeck. No evidence of this was found when the crew cabin was found under water. Mike Mullane & Robert Overmeyer, both former astronauts who were good friends of Judy Resnik & Dick Scobee, respectively, mention this. Nevertheless, I hope these brave souls RIP - we have not forgotten!

  • The official reports say it was POSSIBLE they were still alive until impact with the water. Also, "alive" does not mean "conscious". This is where miscommunication and rumors begin.
