He claims that he mistook his gun for a taser. A mistake anyone could've made, even a trained policeman entrusted by the people with use of deadly force.
And anyway, it was clearly a chaotic, confusing situation. The other cop even had to kneel on Grant's neck to hold him still, so Mehserle could stand and get his bearings before shooting.
Other than hoping that Mehserle bleeds to death from anal hemorrhaging after a 48-hour prison welcome, I'm happy with the handling of the situation.
So easy to talk smack from your computer. Thousands of criminals murder and/or hurt innocent people every day and you clowns could care less. But when a cop accidentally shoots someone (you'd have to be insane to do that on purpose) then all of the sudden you become insane with anger. Just admit you are a loser and don't like cops because you are a criminal.
It is ridiculous to condemn all cops, they have a very difficult and dangerous job to do.
HOWEVER, the officer involved, Mr. Johannes Mehserle, did not "accidentally" shoot the young man in the BART station. There was nothing accidental about him standing over a restrained, compliant, non-violent, HANDCUFFED young man, taking out his gun and shooting him in the back.
Thank God, that there were people recording this police abuse on tape and that Officer Mehserle is facing a murder conviction.

But how was the handling of this situation? Did the chief of police only take away his rights to free donuts at the local donut shop?
I'm just saying that because a lot of time, these cops that do shit like this mostly always get away with it lightly!
