Driving rain filmed at the Syed Kechik Building, 8th floor, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Despite the 1.2 meter wide overhang, driving rain still splashes violently against the windows at the wind-ward direction. The window around the corner is seen to receive less rain.
Interestingly, driving rain amounts to 50% of the normal rain fall in Kuala Lumpur. Hence, rainwater harvesting off the facade of buildings - particularly highrises - can contribute significantly to quantity of rainwater harvested annually. In fact, for highrise buildings the bulk of harvested rainwater can come from driving rain.
