@lindenly22 What a stupid comment. Do you have any compresision of simple human biology? Did you even watch the video? 1:13 Cirrhosis can be treated, cell death in the liver cannot.
But there is hope for the future, Google --> "Intra-hepatic Artery Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cells Infusion for the Treatment of Advanced Liver Cirrhosis"
Remember--"hepa" or "hepatic"--means "related to the liver". For example, hepatits means the inflammation to the liver which could lead to fibrosis. Fibrosis in the liver CAN be reversed--but NOT if the liver has cirrhosis. (For example, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease--known as steatohepatitis.)
It is very sad that it is the same disease that killed off the most famous Chicago Bear, Walter Payton. There should be a cure for cirrhosis, because, right now, there is no cure for cirrhosis...you either have to get a liver transplant or you end up dead before you even know it! :( :( :( :( :( :(
My grandfather is in the final stages of Cirrhosis, so sad to see him like this now. but he is 77 now and he smoked cigarettes daily since he was 8. My heart goesout to everyone who has loved ones with this terrible illness.
.anyway the course of action now is to prevent your friend from 2 complications: portal hypertension and hepatic encephalopathy!!! plz consult ur doctor asap about these....report fast in case ur frnd has a distended abdomen or blood in his puke or for 2nd case loses consiousness with fever and confusion!!!
the most likely course of your friend's disease progression would have been sth like this: iv drug abuse is notorious for transmission of hepatitis B and C virus just similar to HIV but somewhat more in frequency!!! now Hepatitis C is an infection which is most known for its chronicity ie its nature to persist and turn into a chronic infection in at least 50% cases......so over years this hep C virus destroyed d liver tissue to render it Cirrhotic......
my frend has been diagnosed with cirrosis of the liver....he is not a drinker maybe one here and one ther but rare he was a heavy cocaine user with intervenus use and snorting stuff, i dont now all the stuff he did, now tell me does that mean he has hepatitis??
