Here are some of the question words in Turkish.

Ne? -- What? "O ne?" means "What is that?"
Kaç? -- How much? How many?
Ne Kadar? -- How far?
Saat Kaç? -- What time is it?
Ne Zaman? -- What time (will it happen)?
Kim? -- Who? "O Kim?" means "Who is that?"
Nasıl? -- How?
Nerelısın? -- Where are you from?
Adın Ne? -- What is your name?
Hangı? -- Which?
Hangısı? -- Which of these?
Niçin?, Niye? -- Why?

These are the basic question words in Turkish. Remember, repeated exposure is the key to learning words, not spending a lot of time trying to memorize them. Keep in mind that question words in Turkish usually come after the thing that they refer to. In other words, in Turkish, you don't say "where's John?", you say "John where?" -- "John nerede?". See you next time.

  • Hello Nate! I am a Turk. I leav in Kırım. Your exercises are helpful for peoples who want to learn Türkçe, but your pronouncıatıon is not good actually.. Onu iyileştirmek için daha çok türklerle konuşmalısın..

  • Thanks for your constructive criticism. I do speak Turkish with my wife when I can and try to practice as much as possible. I think my pronunciation is getting better, but I will probably have an "american accent" as they told me in Turkey, for a long time!

  • GET TO THE POINT! I DO NOT NEED TO LEARN ENGLISH!

  • first of all, thank you very much for your effort. you try your best i m sure. i wish you the best.

  • anlattıkları yazıyla desteklenseydi daha anlaşılır olurdu:(

  • thank you , from an Egyptianwho is trying to learn turkish :)

  • @sgthobbes2 if translate fully to english. niye means why. niçin means "for what".

for example, why should i buy a computer? niçin bilgisayar almalıyım?

other example, why did not you come? niye gelmedin?

also you can use them anytime you want. people dont care. they will understand you.

  • if you try to ask "istanbul ne kadar", it means "how much is istanbul". don't do it in Turkey.

  • "ne kadar" means not how far. ne kadar means "how much". how far is "ne kadar uzakta"

  • Are there particular cases in which you would differentiate Niye and Niçin?

You're videos are great! Keep it up!

  • @rosebudsalve1 haha, yeah, it's good, but slow talking, somewhat relaxing, actually
