My cousin fighting in the Welsh National Judo Championships, Cardiff in 2006 after retiring injured from the sport in 2001. He had not trained or competed since 2001 and this is the FINAL against Roger Sainsbury after winning four other bouts. Roger was later selected to represent Wales in the 2006 Commonwealth Tournament after Ceri turned down the WJA's offer. Well done Ceri.

  • @oflmdotcodotuk _ Came across this and wondered if you have any footage of the 2007 championships. Know this was a long time ago - I'm the guy Ceri fought in the final and genuinely have no footage of the event. I came to competitive Judo very Late and have now retired apart from the odd Dan grading. I know this is a long shot but would be very grateful if you could help.

  • i fought in the under 65kg and got bronze

  • Ceri great to see your back on the MatI am trying to come back myself.

    Craig Ewing

  • I know of Chris Whatley. He was part of the three amigos with Ceri and Barry Thomas back in the early 1990's. I think Ceri would have won more tournaments if he'd not have been injured so many times!

  • You've lost me! My cousin is Ceri - I put these videos online after getting hold of them a few years ago!

As stated in the "About this video" section, Ceri had to finish competitive judo in 2001 due to injury & did not enter the 2004 event.

He WAS -100kg but fought in the 2006 & 2007 events at +100kg getting the gold and silver; only entering in 2006 to re-activate points for his 3rd Dan.

He is now in Canada, but still has ties with Carmarthen, Honto Judo and MSMAS.

    Who is your brother then?

  • Oh yes - who is that then?
