Dallas Contracting ushered in 2008 with more than just a bang! Imploding a 200' smokestack at the AFG Industries Site, Cinnaminson, NJ on January 22nd marked the last phase of demolition and dismantling work that has spanned the last six months. Preparing for the stack's last stand involved drilling 75+ 1.5" holes through 6 feet of brick at its base to accommodate 30lbs of dynamite. Once wired and the surrounding area cleared, a structure that took 6 months to construct in 1972, toppled in a mere 15 seconds. The resulting brick debris was recycled on site into reusable aggregate for future use.
So they completely dismantled the whole plant? I used to work there from march to december 06.
