And Mr. Cappucci, you may be interested to know that I too became a math teacher (in a very circuitous mannner) and have taught high school, middle school, and community college. I had a lot of fun in your classes. You have inspired so many of us.

Phil, I can fully relate to your story about Mr. Cappucci. I myself had a teacher for 11th and 12th grade English, Mr. Wyrick, who was been one of the biggest influences on my life and defintely the best teacher i ever had.
He used many of the same techniques you described here, and if not for his early recognition of my talents for writing and English, i may not be on the same path i am today. I wouldn't even be the same person really, if not for his guidance and everthing he taught me.

Mr. Cappucci sounds like an excellent teacher! I would love to meet him. I teach mathematics and I would enjoy speaking with this influential teacher. As educators, our task is to not only teach facts or theorems, but also to AFFECT students' lives, hopefully in positive ways. Mr. Cappucci has clearly affected your life. My best wishes.
